This 45-minute class is a similar format to our signature Barre class. With a slightly faster pace, this class is designed to get you a great workout and back to the rest of your day in less than an hour.

Barre class is a type of fitness workout that combines elements from ballet, Pilates, yoga, and strength training. It is named after the ballet barre, a horizontal handrail that ballet dancers use for support during exercises.  In a barre class, this barre is used as a prop to balance while performing exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract specific muscles), combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. At you home, you can use a wall / a chair as your barre.

Key Features of a Barre Class:

  • Ballet-Inspired Movements: Many of the exercises are inspired by ballet and involve small, controlled movements to target specific muscle groups, particularly the legs, glutes, and core.

  • Low-Impact: Barre workouts are gentle on the joints, making them suitable for people of various fitness levels, including those recovering from injury.

  • High-Intensity: Despite being low-impact, barre classes can be very challenging. The exercises often involve holding positions for extended periods and performing high repetitions to build muscle endurance.

  • Core Strength and Stability: Many barre exercises emphasize the core muscles, which helps improve posture and balance.

  • Flexibility and Stretching: Classes often include stretching components, both during and after the workout, to enhance flexibility and muscle recovery.

  • Mind-Body Connection: Like yoga and Pilates, barre emphasizes the mind-body connection, encouraging focus on breathing and form during each movement.

  • Overall, barre classes provide a full-body workout that can help tone muscles, increase flexibility, and improve overall physical fitness.
